When faced with the sheer number of things that seem to be fraying and fracturing, we’re tempted to think that God has lost His grip on us. This year has left me longing for a reminder that God is still on the throne. The baby in the manger is that reminder. However unique 2020 advent season is, one thing always stays the same: Jesus Christ holds all things together.
We should live carefully in this world because ultimately, this world is not our home (2 Pet 2:11). We are “elect exiles” (1 Pet 1:1)—pilgrims on our way to the eternal city of God (Heb 11:10). How can you more purposefully and biblically journey toward heaven as you live carefully in this world and deny ungodliness?
Through adoption, God makes us His children, builds His family, displays the gospel, and helps the church demonstrate to orphaned children the love that He has shown us. This is a precious doctrine and one we should emulate!
